For years, the town's two most reliable warm-weather habits, the Saturday dock concerts and the Thursday farmers market, sat a mile apart with only tradition connecting them. In 2026 the market picked up and moved to the Town Hall lawn, and the accidental result is a walkable Bay Avenue rhythm that runs Thursday morning to Saturday night without asking anyone to drive to a second parking lot.
If you already live in Barnegat, the practical question is not whether the summer calendar exists. It is which weeks are still worth planning around before Labor Day, and what changed enough that last year's playbook is out of date.
The Saturday Half
The 2026 Summer Dock Concert Series is a Barnegat Township Recreation Department program that runs Saturday evenings through July and August, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Barnegat Township Municipal Dock, 427 East Bay Ave. It is free, it is outdoors, and it is the same concrete waterfront apron most residents already know from summer walks.

For years the Thursday market sat at Gazebo Park where Route 9 meets East Bay Avenue, a small open-air setup right next to the intersection. In 2026 it moved. Opening Day was Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the new location at 900 West Bay Ave in front of town hall, and it runs every Thursday on that schedule through the summer.
The move matters for two reasons. First, the old Gazebo Park footprint was small enough that a busy Thursday spilled into the crosswalk at Route 9. The Town Hall lawn is a bigger, flatter site with actual parking behind the building. Second, the vendor list has been stable enough to plan around. What the Two Halves Add Up To

The Municipal Dock is at 427 East Bay Ave. The new farmers market is at 900 West Bay Ave. They sit on the same road, on opposite sides of Route 9, roughly a mile and a half apart. Before this year the market was tucked at the intersection between them, which functionally made it a Route 9 destination rather than a Bay Avenue one. Now both anchors are on Bay Ave itself.
For residents in the older neighborhoods along Bay Avenue and the streets that feed into it, that is a small quality-of-life shift worth noticing. A Thursday morning walk to the market and a Saturday evening walk to a concert now share a corridor rather than a zip code. You do not have to think of them as separate errands anymore.
If the Weather Turns
Waterfront concerts and open-air markets both live at the mercy of a July thunderhead. The dock series has a documented backup plan. In inclement weather, the concert moves indoors at Russell O. Brackman Middle School, 600 Barnegat Blvd, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. That has been the rain venue for several seasons, so it is not a surprise to longtime attendees, but it is worth writing down if you are new to the series. The Jersey Sings performance in particular has historically had an indoor Sunday matinee variant, with a 2:30 p.m. door and a 3 p.m. start at Brackman.

A Week You Can Actually String Together
Take the second week of August as a test case. Thursday morning, August 13, the market opens at 9 a.m. at 900 West Bay Ave with the same rotating produce roster. Saturday evening, August 15, RB Express plays the dock. Between them sits a residential stretch of Bay Avenue that most locals already walk or bike.
